Expedition Sea Kayak Instructional Class
Immerse yourself in the art of kayaking in this all inclusive, field-based instructional in expedition kayaking skills. Based off of the best parts of the ACA and BCA curriculums, we will learn the fundamentals of expedition sea kayaking: How to go maneuver your boat efficiently, how to keep your boat up right when conditions get rough, how to perform a self-rescue and how to rescue someone else, and how to navigate through the tricky waters and currents of the San Juan Islands. Some prior paddling experience required. Taught by the knowledgeable guides of Elakah. Evenings will be spent learning how to read and understand charts, tides, and current tables. Discussions about the proper gear necessary for touring will intersperse throughout the day. We keep the group size small so that you can have individual attention from your instructor. Ages 16 & over.
